Why Do You Need Skin Vitamins?
As you grow older, it is your skin that reveals your age, with wrinkles and lines on a once smooth, supple surface. This is, of course, a natural process, as oestrogen levels drop, but there are ways to reduce the effects of aging on skin and keep it looking as young and healthy as possible. Vitamin A is also shown useful strengthening nails as well.
Vitamin E, an antioxidant, improves healing, hastens tissue repair and prevents cell damage. If you’re taking Vitamin E to help prevent acne, take about 400 mg a day.
Vitamin C, another antioxidant, is also excellent for acne. Ideal dosage is between 1000 and 1600 mg thrice a day. Diabetics should check with their physicians before taking Vitamin C; dosages for them will vary. Vitamin C is also very good for tissue repair, healing and growth.
Taking Vitamin B complex is another good way to treat acne; reducing stress, which is often at the root of this trouble. B vitamins are great for healthy skin tone. Each of these components of B complex, have a specific role in maintaining good skin – thiamine is an antioxidant which removes toxins from the body and is good for circulation, while riboflavin is great for healthy growth not only of skin, but hair and nails as well. Pyridoxine, riboflavin and niacinamide deficiencies can cause acne, and pantothenic acid also helps clear this skin problem up.
Vitamin B complex fights the unpleasant effects of stress and pollution on skin and keeps your skin looking and feeling good.
If you don’t mind the taste, a daily dose of cod liver oil is a great way to keep skin healthy. This oil contains Vitamin D which helps moisturize skin and reduce wrinkles.

Always consult your doctor before taking any course of vitamins, particularly if you are a diabetic, or are expecting a baby.
In addition to taking vitamins, you must remember that other factors are also important for maintaining attractive, healthy skin – a well-balanced diet, plenty of exercise, adequate intake of water, protection from the elements, and plenty of rest and sleep.
