Natural Hair Care Products For Fine Hair
Fine hair can often look lifeless and limp. Because the strands are so light, they are easily weighed down by residue left behind from shampoos and conditioners.
In addition, the styling products used to give it a volumizing boost can also build up and weigh it down, making it look more lifeless. If yours is naturally oily as well, it is even more difficult to keep it looking bouncy and healthy. There are several natural care products that are great for fine hair.
Clarifier
All types of hair become dull if buildup from shampoos, conditioners, and styling aids are allowed to accumulate. Fine strands quickly become limp from this buildup. While there are numerous clarifying shampoos available on the market to strip strands of oil and residue, some of these shampoos are harsh and can damage the strands.
A homemade clarifier will gently remove the excess oil and any buildup from your hair, so that it will be lighter and voluminous. Both yogurt and sour cream contain lactic acid, an acid that is strong enough to strip hair of impurities, but mild enough that it won’t damage it.
You can apply half a cup of yogurt or sour cream and gently massage it through your hair and scalp. After twenty minutes, rinse first with warm water and then shampoo as normal. Use this treatment on thin, fine hair twice monthly, or more frequently if needed, to keep hair shiny and full of volume.
Thickener
Limp hair can get a thickening boost from a natural protein thickener. Store bought protein treatments may be expensive, and this homemade protein treatment will save you money, and it makes limp strands look thicker. Beer contains fermented yeast, and when applied to your hair, can help thicken it. The liquid evaporates after a while, and the remaining proteins from the hops, malt, or wheat the beer is made from will plump the strands.
Pour one half of a cup of beer into a bowl and let it sit for a while until the carbonation is gone. Then add one teaspoon of olive or vegetable oil and one raw egg. Mix and then apply to your clean, dry hair, letting it sit for fifteen minutes before rinsing. Style as usual, and use the treatment twice a month, or more often as desired. Using vitamins for thicker hair can also help increase the diameter of the hair shaft helping fine or thin hair feel, look and appear thicker. Just as supplements and vitamins can help make hair shinier, they can also help make your hair thick.
Conditioner
Conditioner provides moisture and protection from heat styling, dirt, and the elements, such as wind, humidity, and salty air. Store bought conditioners contain a lot of ingredients, and these can quickly build up and weigh hair down, causing it to look dull and lifeless. This simple homemade conditioner will add moisture and protein without the heavy build up.
Combine three egg yolks with six tablespoons of olive oil in a bowl. Break open one vitamin E capsule and add it to the mixture and then stir to combine. Apply to hair, gently massage it in, and let it sit for thirty minutes. Rinse the mixture out using cool water and style as usual. Use this treatment once a week to keep hair healthy and moisturized.
