Top Five Skin Care Tips For The Summer!

Summer time means more outside activities and warm weather. The fun in the sun can be very damaging to the skin. Extra care needs to be given to prevent this damage from occurring. Taking into account that most of us use sunscreen regularly during this time, it is also essential to add a few more necessities to our skin care regimen to prevent dry skin.

Tip #1 – Drink More Water

Your skin tissue is made up of 80% water. Exercise, heat, sweating drain vital fluids and hydration. With the multiple activities planned during the summer months, the amount of water you drink might be neglected. Keep a filled container of water with you at all times and drink it throughout the day. Flavored waters and sports drinks will also help to renew the lost nutrients and fluids that can damage and dry the skin.

Tip #2 – More SunscreenPeptide face cream

Many think that applying sunscreen to the skin once will protect them through the day. Sunscreen needs to be reapplied every four hours to be effective against the sun’s UV rays. The higher the SPF levels in the sunscreen the better as this will give more protection from the sun.

Secondly, many of us (myself) included) don't think about sunscreen until we're by the pool or on the beach. While those are probably the "high-risk" places for most of us, remember a tennis game, golf, and working in the yard or garden can leave your arms, face, and neck burned as well.

Tip #3 – Moisturizer More

Dryness causes the skin to be red, itchy, and irritated. It also causes lines and wrinkles to be more prominent. To look your best in the summertime, add a moisturizer that contains Vitamin C. The Vitamin C will remove free radicals from the skin, repairs past damage, and helps to hydrate it better.

The moisturizer/sunscreen combination products will also add a barrier of sun protection. Exfoliate more during this time to remove dead skin to have a fresh looking complexion.
On another note, this whole moisturizing thing can't be emphasized enough. We receive many calls in late summer and fall from customers who are suffering or experiencing flaking and patches of dryness.

Sometimes this leads to blotchiness and irritation. More often than not, we dig a little deeper and discover there is a history of either repeated sunburns or no moisturization. Wind, sun, chlorine, and some make-up dries out the complexion...using a good, herbal-based moisturizer in the evening before going to bed can't be overstated.

Tip #4 – Stop To Eat

Being on the go means we might not take time to eat properly. The body needs certain nutrients to replenish the skin with collagen. Foods like green leaf vegetables, berries, fruit, and fish contain protein and other nutrients that will keep the skin hydrated and at its best.

When your body lacks the food it needs, it will begin to run down and lack energy to renew itself and repair damage. Also, as you have probably heard (especially if you are on a weight loss program), its better for your metabolism to eat 6 small meals a day rather than 3 large ones (though that's what we're used to doing).

Tip #5- Less Is Better

If you must wear cosmetics when out in the sun, keep it to a minimum. Start with a good moisturizer and bronzer for an all over sun tan glow. Add a moisturizing lip gloss and a touch of mascara for an easy summer look.
