Can Omega 3 Help Gray Hair

The hair of most if not all, human beings will turn gray with age. Heredity and illness play an important role in the timing and the quantity of this change. There are many rumored causes and some true causes for losing the color of hair. One rumored graying agent is stress. While stress cannot make hair gray by itself, it can cause gray hair indirectly. Hair tends to fall out more quickly under stress than under serene conditions. The hair that is present will not change color. It will fall out. It is the new hair growing that will have diminished amounts of melanin than the hair that it replaced. In time, that hair will be replaced by a new hair with even less color until hair appears gray or even white.

There is little you can do about heredity. If your parentsí hair grayed prematurely, chances are your hair will also lose its color early. However, there are ways to stave off graying for as long as possible by proper diet and healthy living. Among the things you can do is to make sure your body takes in plenty of Omega 3 Fatty Acids. These fatty acids can be found in abundance in fish. Salmon especially, is full of Omega 3 Fatty Acids. If you donít like fish, you can get your daily allowance with supplements. How Do They Keep Your Hair From Graying

The effect of Omega 3 on hair is to strengthen it. When hair gets a certain age, it becomes dry and brittle. This will lead to the individual hair breaking or falling out. When that happens, the new hair with smaller amounts of melanin will grow in its place. It is barely noticeable when one hair turns gray but when thirty, forty or even a hundred hairs experience the same amount of color loss, it will make an overall difference. How Do They Work

It is a polyunsaturated chain of fatty acid with a double bond that is located three carbons from the carboxyl end. By preventing inflammation of hair follicles through the Omega 3 effects on cellular health, the pigment-producing melanocytes within follicles will remain stronger and active for a longer amount of time.

What Are The Food Sources For Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Cold water fish like salmon, is the best source. Not everyone loves salmon, however. Significant amounts of Omega 3 can be ingested from mackerel or herring. Another type of fish would be sardines or fresh-water trout. For those who donít just dislike salmon but wonít touch fish in general, a handful of walnuts will provide enough Omega 3 Fatty Acid for your hair to get strong and healthy. Flax seed and pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds can be substituted for fish as well. Another option is avocados.
There are, however, several gray hair solutions to considered. You can dye with a color treatment or shampoo that infuses pigmentation and coloring or you can use a shampoo that contains Emu Oil that is rich and concentrated with Omega 3 and ideal for controlling gray hair.
