Black Hair
Care Products
Generally,
African American hair is brittle and damages easily. African American hair is
subjected to chemicals and extreme heat in attempt to make the hair longer and
smoother. So before you go trying complicated tricks and new trends to get your
hair to be healthy and grow try a few simple maintenance routines. It is often
the simple things that you do everyday that make the biggest difference in our
hair growth and health.

For black
hair care we recommend using a pre- shampoo treatment such as our emu oil,
jojoba oil or argan oil. A pre- shampoo
treatment is applied hours or a day before shampooing to lock in moisture. The oil will form a protective layer over the hair strand and reduce breakage while
adding moisture.
Using the
right shampoo can be tricky too!
Sulfates can be harsh to certain hair types such as black, thick and
coarse hair. So we have formulated our Profolla Silk line with a sulfate free
surfactant, Chemoryl™ SFB-10SK surfactant blend is a 32% solids, alkyl
and alkyl ether sulfate-free, DEA and MEA amid e-free, mild, multi-purpose
surfactant concentrate. It is an excellent choice to provide very mild
cleansing and gentle foaming in color protection shampoos, baby shampoos, and
other mild cleansing shampoos.
Conditioning
is important too! All of our
conditioners are sulfate free and the oils we use are natural, emu oil, jojoba
oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil and argan oil.
As much as we try to prevent it shampooing
does strip oils from the hair and this is why it is important to condition and
moisturize the hair and scalp. We have a
few options with the oils and the actives in the conditioners but all of our
conditioner bases have emu oil and jojoba oil and some of the others have these
oils as well as the coconut and argan oil.
Deep
Conditioning every 30 to 45 days is also a good part of a healthy hair routine.
We have a Root Food and a Deep Treatment, either one of these would be an
excellent choice. The Root Food for Healthy Roots & Tips – Hair grows from
the roots and most products never focus on the health of the hair root. Root
Food uses nourishing herbal extracts including vanilla bean to penetrate deep
into the hair root to promote healthy hair growth and moisture to the scalp and
hair. Deep Treatment for damaged
hair helps seal-in moisture and hydration while providing protection from sun
damage, heat damage from styling appliances, and from breaking and snapping due
to coloring or chemical treatments.
Protect Hair Ends with emu oil, jojoba oil or argan oil.
Although we do produce our own oils we need to use other oils to promote and
encourage new hair growth. Emu oil has been shown to promote new health hair
growth. It is a carrier oil too so it gets deep down to the dermis layer for
maximum results. These oils also help condition the hair and scalp.
Last but not least hair vitamins. We have a few options to
choose from and have had excellent result with all of them. It really comes
down to a personal preference on the supplement list on which one each customer
chooses. They all have B12, niacin, zinc, biotin, and more.
Try not to over wash your hair. We tend to get to generous
when scrubbing the scalp and this tends to leave the hair more vulnerable to
breakage. We also need to reduce the
amount of heat that is applied to the hair, again causing dry, brittle hair. When you do blow dry use the lowest heat
setting or the cool setting if you have it.
