Top Acne Homemade Face Washes

Both teens and adults spend a lot of money each year treating a common skin disorder, acne. While over the counter or prescription medications can be beneficial in treating blemishes, the harsh ingredients contained in the various creams and ointments can be irritating to the skin or cause excessive dryness.

There are several homemade acne face washes that can be used with or without medications.

Honeyacne wash by acnetene

Honey is useful in an acne face wash because it is natural antibacterial properties, and it is an anti-inflammatory as well. Bacteria, combined with dirt, oil, and dead skin cells, can cause an infection in the pores, causing a pimple.

As the body works to fight the bacteria, white blood cells cause the clogged pore to become red and inflamed, and sometimes pus will form in the pimple. Because honey is anti-bacterial, a cleanser using honey can remove some of the bacteria from the surface of the skin. It is also soothing to skin because it is hydrating, and reduces inflammation in irritated skin.

This makes it a very good homemade acne face wash for sensitive skin.

Honey And Mild Soap

One acne face wash using honey is a simple combination of honey, water, and mild soap. Combine one fourth of a cup honey with one half a cup water and three tablespoons of a mild formula soap, such as one made for babies. Shake the mixture until it is well combined and then massage the mixture onto the skin. Gently rinse the mixture and pat your face lightly with a towel to dry.

The honey face wash will store for a couple of weeks. Although an over-the-counter solution, alpha hydroxy acid acne treatment is excellent for supplementing a honey/soap regimen. Alpha hydroxy is well known for helping clear pimples and blemishes on the forehead, cheeks and chin by reducing oil production.

Honey And Almond

Another acne cleanser that is gentle on the skin but deep cleansing is honey mixed with almond oil. Use one part almond oil to two parts honey, and add a squeeze of lemon juice if your skin is naturally oily. Massage the mixture onto your face and let it sit for several minutes before rinsing with warm water. Pat skin lightly with a towel to dry. Almond oil is perishable, so you’ll need to store the leftover mixture in the refrigerator.

Baking Soda

Another simple acne face wash is baking soda mixed with a little bit of water. This face wash is effective because the baking soda is an alkaline, which helps to clear the skin of excess bacteria. In addition, baking soda will exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells that can clog pores and cause blemishes.

Mix a couple of tablespoons of baking soda with a teaspoon of water, and gently massage the mixture into your skin. Rinse with warm water and gently pat your skin dry. Baking soda also works well to help avoid subsequent scarring due to more severe cases of acne. Use an acne scar treatment cream in conjunction with homemade remedies to help avoid scar tissue from forming.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal acne face wash is another natural product that is easy to use to cleanse the skin and treat pimples. Oatmeal is very soothing to the skin, and it can reduce inflammation, which will lessen the appearance of acne. In addition, oatmeal can be used to gently exfoliate the skin by removing dead skin cells.

To make this face wash, add one cup of oatmeal to one cup of boiling water. When the mixture is cool enough to apply to the skin, gently massage the oatmeal onto your face and let it sit for several minutes. Rinse and pat dry, and discard any remaining mixture.
