The Best Diet For Healthy Skin

Everyone wants to look youthful and have radiant, healthy skin but not everybody can afford to spend money on expensive anti-aging creams.

The good news is that your skin’s health has a great deal to do with your diet so you can improve its health and appearance by simply improving your diet. Even better news is that the foods that are great for your skin are also wonderful for improving overall health. This means that when you follow these guidelines, you will not only be improving your skin’s health, but the health of your entire body.

At the "end of the day" food that is healthy for skin tends to be the same foods that are healthy for all our organs. A balanced diet of fresh vegetables and fruits are at the top of the list followed by many types of fish that are rich in amino acids, minerals, vitamins and proteins. Provided no allergies, dairy products are rich in Vitamins D and iron, and whole grains help provide fiber and minerals that help produce healthy skin, collagen and elastin fibers.

Drink Fluids

One of the most common tips for being healthier is to drink plenty of water, but not many people realize that this will help your skin as well - in fact, it is the cornerstone of natural skin care. If you drink the recommended eight glasses of water a day you will not only be hydrating your body, but also your skin. If it is hydrated, it is less likely to chap or dry out, making it more healthy and more radiant. Proper hydration also allows your body to function at a better level right down to your cells; it decreases inflammation which can cause skin to ‘flare’ up.

Eat Antioxidants

Antioxidants are molecules that not only help you avoid diseases, but can protect your skin against free radicals. Free radicals can harm your skin as they will destroy your skin cells and in turn change them into more free radicals. Luckily, however, by simply consuming a diet rich in antioxidants you are able to greatly reduce the amount of these free radicals found on your skin, which will in turn improve your skin’s health. Some great sources of antioxidants include seafood, blackberries and blueberries, leafy green vegetables and nuts.

Avoid Junk Food

One of the best things you can do if you want to get healthier skin is to simply avoid junk foods including those that are processed, fried or filled with sugar. These foods can add free radicals to your skin so consuming them will actually damage your cells. In addition to adding to the number of free radicals, junk food can also cause problems such as acne. Junk food can also lead to increased wrinkles, dehydration of tissue, tissue thinning, and premature skin aging. Anti aging skin products can help, but its hard to overcome a consistent diet of poor nutrition. If you avoid junk food, you can improve your skin’s health and will even shed some pounds in the process.

Eat Omega 3s

Omega 3 fatty acids are one of the foods dieticians frequently recommend for a healthy diet and the good news is that they can help your skin’s health as well. These fatty acids are easily found in salmon and other kinds of fish and they are good because they help with the sebaceous glands’ production of sebum which is a natural moisturizer.

Because of the effects of this natural moisturizer, eating omega 3 fatty acids can actually significantly improve your skin’s firmness if you do so over a long period of time such as a few months.

If you combine this diet tip with skin care products, you can see great improvements in your skin’s health.
