Alkalines in your Diet | Improve skin care by balanced diet

Alkaline food is important to maintaining proper skin care. Food that we eat has effect on our level of acidity or alkalinity in the body. For instance the blood must retain delicate balance of pH at 7,365 according to Dr.Young author of Sick and Tired? If pH of blood goes to 7.2 or 7.4 it is sign of increased acidity in internal fluids of the body.

It is clear that 7.2 is more acidic, but why 7.4 is not good? It is more alkaline you say. OK Blood increases in alkalinity by retaining alkaline salts, to offset the increase in tissue acidity. Although the American medical establishment is accepting 7.4 Dr. Young believes that it is too toxic. He judges it could be already in cancer stage.

What are the signs of increased acidity? How does it feel?

Most common signs are: obesity, sugar cravings, easy irritation, lack of energy, headache, Which food has alkaline effect on the body? You see most people think that lemon is acidic but in our body it has high alkaline effect. So I want to give you a list of most alkaline food.
  • Vegetables - that's best, easiest source of alkaline salts in our food. I recommend especially green veggies like broccoli, celery stalks, parsley leaves. They have chlorophyll that oxygenates all your cells so they are more happy :)
  • Sprouts - sprouts are amazingly alkaline food. Most sprouts is about 3 times more alkalizing than carrots. Eat them fresh. Personally I love soy sprouts. They have nice relaxing effect.
  • Beans - like lentils, chick peas, lima beans. All they are alkaline food and good source of vitamins and minerals.
  • Low sugar fruits - in this category is: lime, lemon, tomato, avocado.
Other fruits have higher sugar content and for this reason are more acidic. To be healthy and in balance your diet should ideally consist of 20% acidic and 80% alkaline food.

Why? Because to neutralize one part of acidity you need 10 times more alkalinity. Some foods have very strong alkalizing effect and others just slightly acidic. But for most food the rule is correct. Thats why it is best to stick to 80-20 rule. You probably wonder what is most acidic food? OK. OK.

Most acidic is following: meat (especially pork), diary products (especially hard cheese, all sweets (artificial sweeteners, white sugar, beet sugar, molasses). So try to avoid them or at least keep low in your diet. It is sounds good you say. But why alkaline food has balancing effect on the body and our blood in particular? Glad you asked :)

Alkaline food is rich in alkaline salts like: Calcium Fluoride, Calcium Phosphate,Calcium Sulphate, Potassium Chloride, Potassium Phosphate etc. they work as acid binders and help eliminate acidic wastes from internal fluids, most of the time thru blood.

Water is another important ingredients that plays this role too. 3 of 4 Groups I stated above are rich in water and are highly effective in maintaining proper skin care.
