Short hair styles need hair care developed and formulated to maintain structure and protect from damage.  Short hair is especially prone and susceptible to heat and styling damage.  Care should be taken styling with flat irons or curling irons to avoid "frying" and stripping or depleting moisture and hydration.
 
With longer styles damage to the follicle shaft can often be repaired with a modest cut or trim, but shorter styles leave little room for correction.  Avoid styling while your hair is wet, and it is a "best practice" to blow dry your hair by using your fingers rather than a comb or brush.  Styling with tourmaline and ionic dryers can be done after the hair is damp, rather than wet.  Many dryers have a "cold shot" function that allows style to be set.
