How To Create The Perfect Ponytail With Not So Perfect Hair
We all have those bad hair days when your hair just will not go into any form of order and somewhere along the line you finally outgrew your baseball caps. Stay calm, the ever popular ponytail, offering wide variety from glamorous to casual, is a quick fix for any hair issues with the right hair products and technique.
Smooth Perfection
Begin the process with completely dry hair, brush your hair with a soft to coarse bristle brush. Start at the roots and follow through, with each stroke, to the ends until all the hair has been brushed. Depending on your texture and length, this could take a few minutes. You want your hair to be smooth and sleek once you have finished brushing.
Smoother, Gel, No-Frizz
Take the time to add a small (dime sized) amount of hair gel or smoother to enhance the sleek look. If your exhibits a tendency to frizz for any number of reasons, adding a small amount of frizz control product is an excellent idea. Work the chosen product completely through your hair, concentrating on the top layer.
Gathering the Hair
Gathering your hair, first with your fingers, smooth it along your hairline and the sides back toward the crown of your head, that being the top back of your head. Using the brush, perform the same actions just completed with your fingers. Holding your hair with one hand and using the brush in the other, continue for a smooth gathering all around your head.
Holding the Ponytail in Place
Having already chosen your preferred method of keeping the ponytail in place, you now slide the hair band or cord around the ponytail, as closes to your head as possible. Carefully smooth the top and sides once more with your hand and use a spritzer or gentle hair spray to hold the final look.
Accessories
With the addition of flowers, hair clips, or other beautiful pieces of hair embellishments, your ponytail races from casual to exciting and beautiful. Try experimenting with the location of the ponytail on your head. For a dressier look, try a side part and gather it at the base of your neck. Add some sparkle and glitter embellishments and you can wear it to a dinner party.
The ponytail is not just for tom boys anymore. With such a variety of styles and accessories, it just got better. Be as creative or as casual as you want and still look smashing. |
